Chloe Tiravy

Chloé Tiravy was born in Aurillac in 1989. She currently lives and works in Catalonia.

In 2023, she presented her works in the group exhibition Genre Scenes at the Olivier Waltman Gallery in Paris, and, in 2022, she spent six months in residence in Montluçon (Shakers Residency).
Her works are now included in public collections, notably the Montluçon Regional Contemporary Art Fund, as well as in private collections such as the Desperados Foundation Collection.

Chloé advocates a generous approach to painting, where feeling, poetry, and narrative occupy a central place. Working both in the studio and on-site, she prefers large-format oil paintings, sometimes adopting a monumental scale. In parallel, she cultivates an intimate practice of portraiture and self-portraiture, establishing a dialogue between
imposing scale and introspection. Her works are not limited to an objective representation of nature or social space, but translate an inner truth: a realism of emotions and movements of the psyche. Landscapes, figures, and colors are metamorphosed under the influence of the inner eye, revealing the power of intimate sensations.

Chloé’s painting often keeps visible the construction of the subject in its successive layers. The painting becomes a space where different temporalities intersect: liquid sketches, transparent washes, traces of gridding, and assertive realism coexist on
the same surface. The balance between finished and unfinished structures her compositions, while the intensity of the color, its light, and its overflowing beyond the
forms question and captivate the viewer. Between figuration and abstraction, her works explore the interconnection between body and landscape, going beyond their simple
juxtaposition to examine their tensions and power dynamics.

Driven by humanist concerns, Chloé Tiravy's painting addresses themes such as solitude, dignity, and the reconciliation between humankind and its environment. At once contemporary and romantic, her work reflects a quest for meaning deeply rooted in the personal and the collective.
